I understand that this is a clinical consultation session, and does not constitute either a therapeutic relationship or a formal supervisory relationship with the facilitators or other members of The Aleo Collective (“Aleo”). Information given in the session is offered for your professional benefit, but ultimately it is your responsibility to decide whether, or how, you choose to apply it in your professional practice. As well, this session is for consultation among clinicians and is not an appropriate avenue to pursue personal therapeutic matters. It is recommended that participants pursue individual supervision and/or individual therapy as needed.
I understand that as a health professional, it is my responsibility to maintain client confidentiality per my professional college guidelines, as well as any other professional standards required by my college. You are responsible for ensuring your client’s anonymity in this setting just as you would be in any other public setting, such as a class or a conference.
I understand that there is no expectation of my own confidentiality as a participant being ensured at a drop-in session. This may include identifying information about you being shared (for example, a facilitator using your name when replying to your comment in the Zoom chat). There are options for participation that do not involve identifying yourself, such as choosing your own zoom display name or messaging a facilitator privately. However, given the nature of a public event, confidentiality cannot be ensured. This session is intended to be exclusively attended by clinicians, but Aleo does not take steps to verify the identity or profession of any attendees.
I understand that facilitators are required to adhere to their legal obligations as regulated health professionals. If certain disclosures are made, facilitators may be required to make a report to necessary authorities. Generally, this involves disclosures indicating that yourself or someone else is at imminent risk of harm, or that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected.
I understand that my participation is voluntary and that I don’t have to do or say anything I don’t want to. We hope that all participants will participate to the best of their ability. However, ultimately this is all voluntary. If there is an activity that you don’t want to do, including answering specific questions, you are welcome to limit your participation as you see fit.
I understand that events are not solely for my benefit as an individual participant. The role of the facilitators is to maintain an environment that benefits the group as a whole. Events may not be an appropriate resource for all participants or all concerns. In order to maintain the purpose of the event, the facilitators may need to moderate the frequency, duration, or content of your participation. Specifically this means that each session may not be about your specific consultation; one of the benefits of a group setting is that there is value in learning from the experiences and questions of other participants.
I will not engage in harmful or disrespectful behaviours toward facilitators or other participants. Harmful behaviours include but are not limited to: words or actions that could reasonably constitute physical, sexual, or verbal harassment; bullying; professional misconduct; discrimination; or oppression. This includes words or actions that an individual knows, or could be reasonably expected to know, would be harmful to recipients. Disrespectful behaviours include but are not limited to: behaving in a way that is disruptive to the event; being significantly impaired by substances; or other words or actions that and individual knows, or could be reasonably expected to know, would be disrespectful to facilitators or other participants. Aleo recognizes that harmful and disrespectful behaviours exist on a broad spectrum, and therefore recognizes that application of this policy may require adaptation to the specific circumstances.
I understand that facilitators are not responsible for the words or actions of other attendees. Facilitators will do their best to address instances of harm or disruption in the moment, and retroactively address instances of harmful behaviour through appropriate avenues as needed. However, ultimately we cannot make any guarantees about the behaviour of other attendees.
I understand that if I have concerns about the conduct of a facilitator or another participant, I can address these concerns by contacting thealeocollective@gmail.com
I understand that my agreement to these terms are a prerequisite to my participation in Aleo events. I understand that I may be asked or required to leave the event if my behaviour is not in alignment with this agreement.
